Forecast Snow Stability: The moist snowpack will re-freeze and consolidate in most locations. New snow amounts are not expected to be significant with only a dusting above 700 metres. Greatest accumulations of new snow will be in wind sheltered locations mainly on North-West to North-Easterly aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight, the rain will give way to drier conditions, South-Westerly winds will remain strong and the freezing level will start to lower, to around 800m during the day. Light precipitation will give a dusting of new snow above 700 metres. Southerly winds will remain strong veering South-South-Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: The freezing level was well above the summits. At midday it was plus 5.6 degrees celsius at 1100 metres. Rain at all levels with strong Southerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is thawing at all elevations. Unstable wet snow instabilities are present on many steep slopes particularly on West through North to Easterly aspects above 800 metres. South-East to South-West aspects are also affected to a slightly lesser existent. Cornices remain unstable. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
