Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs above approximately 2200 m.

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in steep terrain above approximately 2200 m and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The fresh snow and local mostly small wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in particular on north to east to south facing aspects. Several small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. This applies in particular on steep sunny slopes.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area 15 to 30 cm of snow fell in the last three days above approximately 2000 m. In some places wind slabs are lying on a weakly bonded old snowpack. Individual weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

Tendency

Slight decrease in avalanche danger as a consequence of the ceasing of precipitation.
