Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of unstable windslab will develop mainly on South-West through West to North aspects above 1000 metres. The hazard will mainly be where this overlies existing snow. The older snowpack, mainly on North to East aspects above 900 metres will remain stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Fresh snow overnight above around 600 metres followed by a mainly dry day. Fresh winds overnight will become light during the day; directions quite variable but predominantly Easterly. Freezing level mostly around 800 metres but rising to 1000 metres for a time during the night. Observed Weather Influences: Showers falling as snow above 750 metres became less frequent through the day. Strong Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The older snowpack is generally firm and stable. Accumulations of fresh windslab, mainly on North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres are very shallow and isolated. The avalanche hazard is Low.
