Wind slabs represent the main danger.

The wind slabs are to be found especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at elevated altitudes. These are to be evaluated with care and prudence in particular on north to east to southeast facing aspects above approximately 2400 m. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in steep terrain and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. Avalanches can in isolated cases be triggered in the old snowpack and reach quite a large size. Below approximately 2200 m small moist and wet avalanches are possible.

Wind slabs are poorly bonded with the old snowpack in particular on north to east to south facing aspects. The old snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. The solar radiation will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular on steep sunny slopes. Individual weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes.
