Avalanche Activity

Slowly receding danger of slab avalanches

Avalanche danger is low, but freshly generated snowdrift patches require attentiveness. Danger zones occur mostly in gullies and bowls, also behind abrupt drops in the terrain in extended easterly aspects. The risks of falling on hardened icy ridgeline surfaces require attentiveness.

Snowpack Structure

Since last weekend the snowdrifts were able to settle well on sunny slopes, only with delay on shady slopes at high altitudes in the wind-loaded zones behind abrupt drops in the terrain and in gullies and bowls. Windblown slopes are encrusted. Where there was previously no snow on the ground, too little fresh snow has fallen for good backcountry tours.
