Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to thaw and consolidate and will be generally stable. Greatest snow cover will remain on North to East aspects above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Storm force West-South-West winds initially, gradually easing to become very strong by late afternoon. Dry in the evening with precipitation starting during the night and falling as rain at all levels. The freezing level will be well above the summits. Observed Weather Influences: It was a wet day with gale force South-Westerly winds. The freezing level was above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: The older snowpack, mainly to be found on North to East aspects above 800 metres is well bonded and stable. The recent snow is consolidating quickly but some wet snow instabilities are present mainly on steep North to East aspects above 1000 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
