GC for 8/1. Soft but stable fresh snow covering old firm snowpack. Minor surface instabilities were exposed to sun. Low Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: A covering of soft, unconsolidated but generally stable snow will be present on most aspects above around 600 metres. The old snowpack, which exists mainly in North and East facing corries above 900 metres, will remain well bonded, firm and stable. Minor surface instabilities possible on steep slopes exposed to the sun. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A dry, cold, sunny day with light East-North-Easterly winds. The freezing level will rise to around 400 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A mainly dry, sunny day with very occasional light snow showers. Winds were light North-Westerly. Freezing at most levels. ObservedSnowStability: There is a covering of soft, unconsolidated but generally stable fresh snow on most aspects above around 600 metres. The old snowpack remains well bonded and stable, with greatest accumulations are in North and East facing corries above 900 metres. Minor surface instabilities are present on steep slopes exposed to the sun. The avalanche hazard is Low.
