Avalanche Activity

Gradual increase in danger of moist avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation.

As a consequence of a strong northwesterly wind, further wind slabs will form in the course of the day. These will form in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at elevated altitudes. Fresh and older wind slabs are to be assessed with care and prudence. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible below approximately 2200 m.

Snowpack Structure

In particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed. The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist deep in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes.
