Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs represent the main danger.

Older wind slabs can be released in some cases in particular on very steep shady slopes. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls above approximately 2400 m. Avalanches can be released, mostly by large loads. In particular in high Alpine regions these avalanche prone locations are more prevalent.

Snowpack Structure

Sunshine and high temperatures gave rise to rapid consolidation of the snowpack in all aspects. The older wind slabs are to be found adjacent to ridgelines and generally at elevated altitudes. Snow depths vary greatly at intermediate and high altitudes, depending on the infuence of the wind. In particular at low and intermediate altitudes hardly any snow is lying.

Tendency

Over a wide area wind and new snow. The wind will be strong to storm force adjacent to ridgelines. The danger of dry slab avalanches will increase but remain within the current danger level.
