Avalanche Summary

Approach steep alpine terrain along the leeward sides of ridgelines with caution. You can trigger a small avalanche that could grow large enough to knock you off your feet and take you for a dangerous ride where you encounter stiff, wind-drifted snow. Consider the consequences of being caught in a small avalanche before you travel on slopes steeper than around 35 degrees where you encounter more than about a foot of new snow.
