Lo esencial

At the mid and upper elevations new very soft slabs up to 18 inches in depth lie upon DANGEROUS older slabs up to 5 feet in depth which lie upon weak layers of faceted snow. These slabs will be easily triggered by humans who approach or venture onto them. Yesterday a skier triggered a 4 foot deep slab in the Rock Springs drainage south of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Similar events are certain to be triggered today by humans who venture onto steep wind loaded avalanche paths. At the lower elevations slabs up to 3 feet in depth could be triggered on steep avalanche prone terrain.
