The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE. New snow with Southwest winds created soft slabs up to 12 inches deep in wind loaded starting zones and added weight to existing slabs. New slabs could step down to older layers one to three feet deep. Also, debris from loose sloughs of the new snow could grow large enough to be dangerous in chutes and terrain traps. The potential continues for full depth, hard slab avalanches to be human triggered particularly in steep areas where new snow tends to slough off. The shallower snow grows facets at the ground weakening the snowpack.
