An AVALANCHE WARNING has been issued by the Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center. Strong winds and heavy snowfall will combine to rapidly increase the general avalanche hazard to HIGH. Slabs up to four feet in depth lie upon a weak base of faceted snow. Natural and human triggered avalanches are probable. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED. Yesterday a snowmobiler who was caught in an avalanche on Thursday was rescued by a helicopter.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued by the National Weather Service. A very powerful Pacific storm system will slam into the area. Heavy snowfall and very strong south to southwest winds will impact the mountains. A brief period of rain or rain mixed with snow is expected in the valleys. Snowfall totals of 10 to 20 inches in the mountains and 5 to 10 inches in the valleys are expected. The Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center has issued an AVALANCHE WARNING for the mountainous areas of Teton, Lincoln and Sublette Counties. This very powerful storm will rapidly increase the general avalanche hazard to HIGH. Large natural and human triggered avalanches are possible and could run full track. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended.
