Lo esencial

At the mid and upper elevations, skiers and riders have the potential to trigger dense surface slabs on a variety of aspects. These slabs lie upon a persistent weak layer and could release after a slope has been lightly tracked. Avalanches at low elevations are unlikely today except for in isolated pockets.

Slabs that are medium hard to hard lie upon surface hoar that formed prior to the last storm cycle. These slabs have depths of one to two feet. Although the slabs have become less likely to trigger, they could still release to the weight of a single person in some areas of steep avalanche terrain.

Avalanche Discussion

Increasing clouds are expected Saturday as another weak system arrives which is to bring limited moisture to the area. A trace to two inches of accumulation is expected. Temperatures are to rise into the mid twenties. Northwest winds are to have 15-25 mile per hour averages. The general avalanche hazard is to remain Moderate above 7500 feet where human triggered slabs remain possible on a variety of aspects. These persistent slabs could have depths of six inches to two feet. Avalanches below 7500 feet are not expected.
