Lo esencial

Periods of heavy snowfall and strong west winds will increase the hazard as the day progresses. At the higher elevations (above an elevation of 9,000 feet) the general avalanche hazard will be LOW during the early morning hours and will increase to MODERATE before noon. Pockets of new soft surface slab 6 to 18 inches in depth will form on leeward aspects. These new slabs could be triggered by riders or skiers who venture into steep avalanches terrain with fresh deposits of wind blown snow. Avalanches are unlikely except in isolated pockets below an elevation of 9,000 feet.
