Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will continue to be deposited in wind sheltered areas. Greatest accumulations will be on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. Below 800 metres, localised unstable windslab will also accumulate in wind sheltered locations. Fragile cornices will continue to build above the same aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Wind will be strong mainly Westerly throughout the forecast period. Frequent snow showers are expected, some heavy and prolonged especially during the morning. The freezing level will initially be around 200 metres, rising to 800 metres during the morning before dropping back to 200 metres in the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Winds strong, generally Westerly. Snow showers at all levels, lighter during the afternoon. The freezing level was around 400 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh moderate to poorly bonded windslab has been deposited in wind sheltered areas, and continues to accumulate. Greatest accumulations are on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Weak cornices are building above these aspects. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
