Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will become wet in the mild conditions. Instability will remain in the recently deposited areas of windslab which will be found mainly on North-East through East to South aspects above 900 metres. These areas will tend not to be particularly extensive. Windward aspects will hold very little snow. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: After a cold and generally dry night the freezing level will rise well above the summits during the morning and remain there through the rest of the day. There will be some light rain during the afternoon. Strong winds will be from the South-West. Observed Weather Influences: It was a cold day with showers which fell as snow at all levels. The freezing level was around 300 metres. Strong winds were from the West to North-West. ObservedSnowStability: Areas of unstable windslab have been deposited in sheltered locations on mainly North-East through East to South aspects above 900 metres. Although poorly bonded these areas are not extensive and in many cases are avoidable. Elsewhere the snowpack tends to be very shallow. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
