The avalanche danger is currently LOW.
However, there is a significant sliding danger across the region at the moment.
Cold temperatures on Saturday are likely to mean that surface crusts will be slow to soften if they soften at all.
Pockets of Wind Slab may form over the next 24 hours. These slabs are most likely to develop on North facing slopes above about 1700m. Be on the look out for blowing snow and avoid areas where it is accumulating as stiff slab.
No avalanche activity reported over the past 24 hours. A cycle of Loose Wet avalanches has occurred across the region in recent days.

Some fresh snow at upper elevations 12/8 (15 - 25cm) in the West and less further East. Rain to about 1850m on the 12/8 has left the pack moisture laden. Melt/freeze crusts have been forming over this moist pack. Facets (weak, sugary forms) have been found in places. These pockets of questionable strength appear to be quite isolated and are most likely to exist on slopes facing East to South. You would be wise to do some investigation before committing to steep, shady terrain.
Saturday - a few showers falling as snow down to 400m in the afternoon. Light Southerly winds. Freezing level - 1800m dropping to 1400m AM then 800m in the evening.
A significant sliding danger exists at present. Expect to encounter icy crusts on all aspects below about 1850m. Keep in mind that the underlying pack remains shallow especially, at lower elevations. Rocks and icy areas may be lurking below a thin cover of snow. Carrying ski crampons and/or an ice axe and crampons is recommended.
