Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will be stable and well bonded throughout. There will be some surface softening where influenced by the sun. Greatest snow cover will be found on North through East to South-East aspects above 750 metres. Below this height, the snowpack will be patchy. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A dry day with winds gradually increasing to gale force from the South-East. Freezing level around 600 metres with temperature inversion conditions prevailing. Observed Weather Influences: It has been a dry day with a strong South-Westerly wind. Temperature inversion conditions with existing snow remaining firm. ObservedSnowStability: The existing snowpack refroze overnight leaving it firm and well bonded. Later, where exposed to direct sunlight there has been some surface softening. Greatest amounts can be found on North through East to South-East aspects above 750 metres. Below this height the snowpack is patchy. Some cornices remain on North and North-East aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
