Forecast Snow Stability: New snow and wind transport of existing deposits will form unstable areas of windslab in sheltered locations. Greatest accumulations of windslab will be in sheltered gullies and on slopes with a Northerly to South-Easterly aspect mainly above 800 metres. Cornices will be fragile and prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Forecast Weather Influences: Stormy conditions with new snow overnight and strong West-North-Westerly winds will affect the area, snow showers will largely die out and winds will decrease through the day. The freezing level will be around 400 metres overnight rising to 900 metres by late afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Colder mainly dry conditions affected the area overnight, Heavy snow showers this afternoon mainly above 600 metres have been driven on by strengthening Southerly winds. The freezing level was around 700 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The old snowpack where exposed is re-frozen and is stable. Areas of windslab are forming in sheltered locations with the greatest accumulations in sheltered gullies and Northerly to Easterly aspects. With heavier snowfall expected stability will decrease particularly where old refrozen snow underlies. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
