Weather Forecast

Wednesday morning will start off around -10c and warm up to -4c in the alpine. Skies will be a mix of sun and cloud with light flurries in the morning. Winds are forecast at 30km/hr from the West along with a 2150m freezing level.

Avalanche Summary

Forecaster went up to Smuts pass today. The only avalanches that were observed likely occurred Monday night and were size 1 sluffs in very steep terrain.

Snowpack Summary

An additional 15-20cm fell Monday night and is bonding well with the previous snow fall. There is now approximately 20-25cm sitting on top of the crust. Winds have been strong lately, so expect to find some wind slabs in lee and cross loaded features in the alpine.

Terrain and Travel

  • Pay attention to isolated alpine features as well as cross-loaded features at treeline.
  • Be alert to conditions that change with elevation and wind exposure.
