Lo esencial

It will be possible to trigger small avalanches in wind loaded snow on isolated terrain features on Friday. Small shallow wind slabs will form near and above treeline on north, east, and south facing slopes.

With only a few inches of new snow expected, wind slabs will be small and isolated. Not all lee slopes will have enough wind blown snow accumulation to produce an avalanche. Watch for isolated terrain features that collect blowing snow. The danger from small avalanches will be related to proximity to terrain traps, such as being above a cliff, or on a sustained steep slope where going for a slide could result in a bad fall.

Avalanche Discussion

Keep an eye on the surface snow as the day warms up. New snow may be affected by warming temperatures and direct sun. Any wet loose avalanches will be very small and in the several inches of new snow on slopes in the direct sun.
