Lo esencial

The snowpack is generally stable. Due to the cool temperatures, cloudy skies, and several days of melt-freeze cycles, wet loose avalanches are not expected today. In light of the current situation involving the Covid-19, please travel respectfully and make conservative decisions to avoid injuries. Thanks

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Another low pressure system over the Great Basin will push moisture into the region overnight and into tomorrow. Skies are expected to be mostly cloudy to overcast with light snowfall in the southern portion of the forecast area. Southerly to westerly winds will be 10 to 20 miles per hour. Mountain temperatures are expected to drop into the teens overnight and then reach the 20s and 30s by tomorrow afternoon. The valley high should climb into the upper 30s. On Togwotte Pass above 9,000 feet, the general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate tomorrow and Low below that elevation. Skiers and riders could trigger wind slab avalanches 2 feet deep on steep, leeward slopes in the highest start zones. In the Tetons below 10,500 feet and in the Southwest Trails area, the snowpack is mostly stable and the general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low. Backcountry travelers may find pockets of slab avalanches above 9,000 feet on northerly slopes that have not been melted by the sun. Due to the challenges involving the Covid-19, please travel respectfully and make conservative decisions to avoid injuries. Thanks
