CM 8/3 Dry and cold, increasing SE winds. Snowpack well bonded and generally stable. Cornices prone to collapse. Aval Hazard - Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will be generally firm and well bonded. Aspects sheltered from the wind and exposed to the sun will begin to soften. Cornices present mainly on East aspects will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight it will be generally clear and cold at most levels, with increasing fresh to strong South-East winds. Remaining dry and windy through the day. The freezing level will rise to around 800 metres. Observed Weather Influences: After a cold and clear night, a bright day with plenty of sunshine. Light Westerly winds. The freezing level increased to around the summits, remaining colder in the shade. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is generally firm and well bonded. Aspects exposed to the sun have softened on the surface, persistently shaded snow remained frozen. Cornices are present mainly on East aspects, with evidence of recent collapses. The avalanche hazard is Low.
