Avalanche Activity

CM for 06/04/22 New localised windslab development on N to E aspects above 900 metres. Moderate Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Some new localised accumulations of moderately bonded windslab will develop on North through to Easterly aspects, above 900 metres. Areas most affected will be steep gully exits and coire headwalls. Some new cornice development is possible above slopes of these indicated aspects. Older areas of mature snow elsewhere will remain well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

This will bring snow initially to 1000 metres, lowering to 700 metres overnight and during the day. The winds will be strong West-South-West, then South-Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: It has been a damp day, with mild conditions; precipitation fell as rain throughout at all levels. The winds have been fresh to strong generally Westerly ObservedSnowStability: Steady thaw at all elevations. The old, mature and patchy snowpack although moist is generally well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard is Low.
