Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs at intermediate and high altitudes.

As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind, wind slabs formed in the last few days in particular in gullies and bowls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The small wind slabs can still be released in some cases especially on extremely steep shady slopes above approximately 2100 m. Slight increase in danger of dry and moist avalanches as a consequence of warming.

Snowpack Structure

In some regions 5 to 20 cm of snow, but less in some localities, has fallen above approximately 1800 m. The wind was moderate to strong in the vicinity of peaks. In high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak. Also at intermediate and high altitudes from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
