At the upper elevations pockets of slab up to two deep exist on steep northerly aspects. These slabs rest upon a base of weak faceted snow that lies upon a hard crust and could be human triggered. Warm temperatures today may increase the potential for these slabs to fail under the weight of one or more people. At the mid and lower elevations the snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely.

Skies are expected to be partly cloudy in the morning. Clouds will increase in the afternoon and light snowfall is expected to develop in the mountains by evening. Mountain temperatures will drop into the 20s overnight and rise into the 30s during the day. Winds will be southwesterly at 20 to 25 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE at the upper elevations (9,000 to 10,500 feet). Unstable slabs up to 30 inches deep exist in very steep, avalanche starting zones. These slabs could be human triggered by skiers or riders. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid and lower elevations where the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW.
