Avalanche Summary

The snowpack is still thin, and most slopes are safe from avalanches. You may find some small thin wind-drifted areas at upper elevations. You can identify these potentially dangerous areas by looking for slopes with a smooth hollow sounding snow surface, small cornices below ridgelines, or cracking in the snow surface. If you experience any of these warning signs, stick to slopes with a slope angle less than about 30 degrees.

A storm will impact Colorado Monday night into Tuesday. It doesn't look like the southwest San Juan Mountains will get enough snow to increase the avalanche danger, but pay attention to changing conditions as the snow piles up.
