Above 8500 feet, skiers and riders have the potential to trigger pockets of surface slabs with depths to one foot in steep terrain that has been loaded by recent winds. A remote chance also remains to trigger deeper hard slabs avalanches in isolated areas. Avalanches are unlikely below 8500 feet.

    Layers of buried surface hoar snow persist in the snowpack. Some potential remains, especially for larger triggers like snowmobiles to trigger deep hard slabs with crowns to 40 inches in depth in isolated areas. Areas where these weaknesses may be found are steep avalanche paths that have not seen much traffic throughout the season, particularly those with northerly aspects.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A high pressure ridge is building into the region. Skies will be mostly clear. Temperatures will drop into the single digits overnight and rise into the 20s during the day. Winds will be light at 10 to 15 miles per hour from the northwest.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW in all areas except for the higher elevations of the Continental Divide/Togwotee Pass area where a remote chance persists for snowmachines to trigger deep hard slabs up to three in depth in isolated areas. In all areas, small pockets of wind slab up to a foot in depth could be human triggered in very steep terrain at the upper elevations
