Forecast Snow Stability: The vast majority of the patchy snowpack will be well bonded and stable. Localised accumulations of moderately bonded windslab will persist in wind sheltered locations on North-West through North to East aspects above 800 metres. Deepest accumulations will be encountered in gully tops and around steep corrie rims above 1000 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Light precipitation, falling as snow above 700 metres, will soon ease to give mostly dry conditions. Winds will be moderate, occasionally fresh, West-South-Westerly. The freezing level will slowly rise from 650 to 800 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Light snow showers above 800 metres this morning, followed by a mostly dry afternoon. Very strong Southerly winds. Freezing level around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snow is developing a crust above 800 metres and is generally well bonded and stable. In wind sheltered locations on North-West through North to East aspects above 800 metres, drifting deposits are forming moderately bonded windslab. Gully tops and steep corrie rims above 1000 metres are worst affected. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
