Forecast Snow Stability: The old snowpack will initially be very firm and icy, softening slightly by the end of the afternoon but remaining well bonded throughout. There will be no new significant accumulations. Greatest coverage will be found on North-West through North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Cold overnight with the freezing level rising above the summits during the day. Very little new snow expected. Winds will be very strong, South to South-South-West. Observed Weather Influences: A bright start to the day but the cloud base quickly developed around 900 metres by mid morning. Cold overnight with the freezing level slowly rising, reaching plus 1 degree centigrade at 930 metres by early afternoon. Very little new precipitation observed. Strong winds from the South-West. ObservedSnowStability: The old snowpack is very firm, well bonded and stable. Greatest coverage is present on North-West through North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Patchy elsewhere. The avalanche hazard is Low.
