Avalanche Summary

Thick, hard slabs of snow rest above weak, collapsible snow near the ground on northerly and east-facing slopes, and where you could trigger an avalanche. You may find deeper, wind-drifted areas that span adjacent terrain features at upper-elevations. Avalanches triggered near the surface may break deeper producing a more dangerous slide. Use caution if traveling above terrain traps or cliff bands where a smaller avalanche could magnify the consequences of getting caught. Wind-sheltered slopes around 30 degrees, without steeper terrain overhead, offer safer travel options.

As temperatures warm over the next several days, watch for loose wet sluffs from steep, sunny slopes. Retreat to shadier slopes if you see rollerballs or find about 6 inches of wet, sticky snow.
