Avalanche Summary

Higher elevation wind-drifted slopes facing north, northeast, and east are the most dangerous. There is a scary chance of triggering a slide in the newly drifted snow that steps down to deeper weak layers, creating a more massive avalanche. Smooth rounded surfaces or stiffer feeling slabs below ridges or the sides of steep gullies are likely places to encounter these problems. Cautious decision-making and terrain choices are advised as it might be harder to trigger an avalanche, but it could go big if you do. Lower-angle, wind-sheltered slopes will provide safer riding options.
