Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE. Strong winds and recent snow have created dense surface slabs one to three feet in depth, which could be triggered by backcountry travelers on steep, wind-loaded slopes. Any extended periods of sunshine will make these slabs more susceptible to failure. Large, dangerous, deep slab avalanches remain possible and could run full track.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A north northwest flow aloft with limited moisture will bring periods of light snowfall to the higher peaks Monday night and Tuesday. Temperatures will be near ten degrees f. in the morning and rise into the twenties during the day. Winds will be northwesterly at 25 miles per hour. The Teton and Togwotee Pass areas have had little or no reported slide activity for several days but the possibility of triggering firm slabs one to three feet in depth on steep, lee slopes remains. Periods of sunshine will rapidly increase the chance of surface sloughs and the possibility of releasing deeper slides. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate Tuesday. In the Greys River area the chance of releasing larger slides remains elevated and the hazard will be Considerable.
