Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDRABLE today. DANGEROUS unstable slabs lie upon a deep weak layer of faceted snow. These slabs can be up to five feet in depth and have become harder from recent high winds and settlement. Riders and skiers could trigger these slabs today and not necessarily by the first cut or rider. These slabs will become more sensitive today on steep sunlit aspects if significant warming occurs. On Saturday in the Tetons one snowboarder was killed from avalanche trauma and a snowmobiler suffered a broken femur from an avalanche. Although seperate events both occurred even though the parties had made runs through the avalanche paths previously that day.
