Lo esencial

At the mid and upper elevations slabs to three feet in depth lie upon a layer of light snow over very weak surface hoar on northerly aspects and smooth sun crusts on southerly slopes. Travellers continue to easily trigger slides but weaknesses deeper in the snowpack may be initiated by the second or later person on a slide path. At low elevations slabs to 18 inches in depth lie upon a fragile layer of surface hoar and could be released on steep slopes and gullies. Saturday a solo skier died after he triggered an avalanche in the Pyramid area south of Jensen Canyon high on a southeast facing slope.
