Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on many wind-drifted slopes. Avoid rounded pillows of firm snow that may crack. Expect variability in bonding of the new snow and the possibility of terrain-feature-specific weak layers created during the storm. Below treeline, the snowpack was very weak pre-storm, and the new slab means avalanches can gouge into deeper weak layers and propagate unusually for below treeline.

On steep rocky slopes that receive sun, you could see Loose avalanches. Avoid being on these slopes if you see roller balls and point releases.

Avoiding wind-drifted slopes is a good way to reduce your hazard, or, if the picture is complex, step back to slopes less than 30 degrees.
