Lo esencial

The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE in the morning and will increase to CONSIDERABLE in the afternoon. As temperatures warm the potential for humans to trigger shallow surface slabs up to 18 inches deep and for wet loose and wet slab avalanches to spontaneously release on steep snow covered slopes will increase.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Skies will be partly cloudy under a high pressure ridge. Temperatures will rise into the 40's in the mountains and to near 60 degrees in the valleys. Ridge crest winds will be northerly at 5 to 10 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard in all areas is expected to be MODERATE in the morning and increase to CONSIDERABLE as temperatures warm and snow surfaces soften. Surface slabs up to two feet in depth persist at the upper elevations (above 9,000) and could be human triggered on very steep wind loaded snow covered slopes and in cliff areas. The potential to trigger these slabs and the potential for wet slides to occur spontaneously will increase as temperatures warm and snow surfaces soften.
