Lo esencial

The overall danger rating is CONSIDERABLE today on the Manti Skyline.

The chances for triggering an avalanche are becoming less but consequences remain dangerous.

Steep slopes above 8000' that face northwest, north and east are the most likely places you might trigger an avalanche.

Buried Persistent Weak Layers of faceted snow remain our biggest concern. The likelihood of triggering an avalanche is decreasing but the consequences remain serious. You many only trigger 2 out of 10 slopes but there's no good way of knowing which two will release and which ones will stay in place. It's an unpredictable situation and avoidance is the only sure bet.

Snow and Weather

Current Conditions: A minor storm system slid through overnight leaving about an inch of new snow. Wind has been almost calm and temperatures have been in the mid teens. Riding conditions should be pretty decent. Many areas are supportable but you'll still find lot's of areas where the snowpack is punchy and hollow.

Mountain Weather: Skies are already clearing out and should continue to clear through the day. High temperatures will be around 20˚F or a bit higher. Wind will be light from the northeast. It may bump up in speed slightly later this afternoon. Wednesday looks mostly sunny with slightly warmer temperatures. The next chance for snow is this weekend when another small storm could bring a few more inches.
