Today, you are unlikely to trigger a wet avalanche big enough to bury a person. Prepare for firm snow in the morning, softening slowly due to cloud cover and winds. If surfaces soften more than several inches, or you encounter unsupportable snow, avoid steep terrain above features you wouldn’t want to be swept through by any size avalanche.

    Some slopes may soften enough today for wet loose avalanches, but they are unlikely to be large enough to bury a person. 

Avalanche Discussion

We've had an extended period of warm days with decent overnight refreezes and no reports of large avalanches. Last night, temperatures actually dipped into the 20s at several locations, and today's clouds and winds will slow surface softening. Some slopes may soften enough today for wet loose avalanches, but they are unlikely to be large enough to bury a person. Think about the consequences of the terrain below you and avoid exposure to anything you wouldn't want to slide through, either because of firm conditions or being swept by a small avalanche.

The BWRA is now closed to motorized use. If we get 2ft of snow at the Leavitt Junction next week, it can reopen.
