Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will remain well bonded, firm and stable in all locations. Any new wet snow deposits on the highest summits are not expected to be significant. The avalanche hazard will be Low

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Drizzle at all levels may turn to wet snow on the highest summits towards the end of the day. The freezing level will be above all summits falling to around 1050 metres. Fresh Easterly winds becoming South-South-Easterly during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: A mostly dry day with only occasional light snow flurries above 500 metres in the morning. Very strong mainly Easterly winds. The freezing level rose to near the highest summits in the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is well bonded and stable. A good cover of very firm snow remains on most aspects above 700 metres with patchier cover below. The avalanche hazard is Low.
