Increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of new snow and wind.

As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind from northwesterly directions, avalanche prone wind slabs will form above the tree line. The new snow and wind slabs will be deposited on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack especially on shady slopes. Even single backcountry tourers or freeriders can release avalanches, including medium-sized ones. Remotely triggered avalanches are possible. As the snowfall level rises wet and gliding avalanches are possible in the afternoon. Snow sport activities outside marked and open pistes call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and caution.

In some localities 20 to 40 cm of snow, but less in some localities, will fall until Sunday above approximately 2000 m. The sleet will give rise from midday to rapid moistening of the snowpack in all aspects below approximately 2200 m. Weak layers exist in the centre of the snowpack. At intermediate and high altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

As a consequence of rising temperatures the snow drift accumulations will stabilise during the next few days. Slight increase in danger of moist snow slides.
