Lo esencial

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE above an elevation of 8,000 feet. In the higher exposed terrain pockets of wind slab up to 14 inches deep lie upon older hard slabs up to three feet deep that rest upon hard crusts. These pockets of wind slab and deeper hard slabs could be triggered by humans, especially those on snowmachines, who venture into steep avalanche starting zones, cliff areas or terrain traps. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 8,000 feet where the general avalanche hazard is LOW.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Light snowfall will develop. Accumulations on an inch or so overnight and during the day on Friday are likely. Mountain temperatures will rise into the low to mid teens. West winds at 15 miles per hour will begin to back towards the southwest. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE between the elevations of 8,000 to 10,500 feet and LOW at the lower elevations. At the higher elevations pockets of shallow wind slab up to two feet in depth could be human triggered in very steep avalanche starting zones, cliff areas and terrain traps. In addition deep hard slabs two to four feet in depth have some potential to be human triggered on very steep slopes, especially by snowmachines or groups.
