You might trigger a slab avalanche in wind-drifted new snow. Once in motion, there's a chance one of these could break deeper growing into a large, destructive avalanche. One of these larger "step down" type avalanches is more likely in north or east-facing avalanche paths that ran previously this season, or in paths with a highly variable snowpack depth. Avoid freshly wind-drifted start zones with broad, steep, well-connected slabs. Look for safer options in wind-sheltered terrain.
