NC for 11.4: Shallow avoidable pockets of windslab on NE to SE aspects above 1000m. The old snowpack will be firm and stable Low Haz

Forecast Snow Stability: Shallow pockets of windslab will develop around coire rims and gully exits on North-East to South-East aspects above 1000 metres. These will be generally avoidable and limited in extent. The old snowpack will be firm, well bonded and stable, most widespread on steep coire back walls and the plateau above 1000 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Very light scattered snow showers throughout the forecast period. Very strong Westerly winds will ease and become fresh to moderate South-Westerlies through the afternoon. The 900 metre freezing level will steadily rise to 1100 metres by the end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: A day of sunshine and occasional showers falling as sleet and snow above 1000 metres. Winds were strong South-South-Westerly. The freezing levels was around 1100 metres. ObservedSnowStability: There is a dusting of new snow above 1100 metres. Isolated pockets of windslab have developed above this altitude on North to East aspects. The old snowpack remains well bonded and stable throughout. The largest patches can be found mostly around steep coire back walls and the plateau above 1000 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
