Avalanche Activity

CM for 04/04/22 Minor wet snow instability on N to E aspects above 900m overnight, otherwise good stability. Low Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Some minor wet snow instability overnight on steep North to East aspects above 900 metres. The patchy older snowpack will become moist but remain well bonded. Residual old cornices will weaken. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Wet and mild at all elevations overnight and throughout the morning. A little cooler later. Strong West-North-Westerly airflow. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight frost at all elevations. Dry but with snow turning to sleet, then rain later. Light Westerly airflow becoming moderate to strong West-South-West later. ObservedSnowStability: The old, mature and patchy snowpack is tightly bonded and firm. No new precipitation and good overall stability at the time of reporting. New thin, moist windslab development anticipated on steep North to East aspects above 950 metres by late afternoon. The avalanche hazard is Low.
