Forecast Snow Stability: Localised accumulations of moderately bonded windslab will be encountered in wind sheltered locations on East through South to South-West aspects above 900 metres. Steeper locations such as gully tops, scarp slopes and around sharply defined corrie rims will be most affected. Soft accumulations at lower elevations will start to consolidate as the freezing level gradually rises. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Very light snow showers dying out during the evening to give a cloudy but dry day. Fresh Westerly winds overnight easing to become light, variable West-North-Westerly. 600 metre freezing level overnight, gradually rising to 975 metres by the end of the forecast period. Observed Weather Influences: Light snow showers on strong North-Westerly winds. Freezing level around 700 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised accumulations of unstable windslab are present in wind sheltered locations on East through South to South-West aspects above 900 metres. Steeper terrain is particularly affected, especially sharply defined corrie rims, scarp slopes and gully tops. Soft, unconsolidated snow is also present at lower elevations but is lying on bare ground. Elsewhere at elevation, the old snow tends to be wind scoured, firm and icy. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
