Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The patchy snowpack will remain well bonded and stable in all locations. Fresh snow accumulations on the higher summits are not expected to be significant. Greatest snow cover will be on North-West through North to East aspects above 750 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A strong Southerly wind eases and veers to the South-West in the afternoon. Showers will mostly fall as rain with sleet or wet snow only on the higher summits. The freezing level will drop from above the summits to around 1000 metres by the end of the period. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry morning with moderate Southerly winds. Some rain reached the West of the area in the afternoon. The freezing level was above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: The patchy snowpack has good stability in all locations. Greatest snow cover is on North-West through North to East aspects above 750 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
