GC for 5/4 Snowpack well bonded and stable and thawing. Possibility of small amounts of new snow highest summits. Low hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: The existing snowpack will continue to thaw, but remain generally well bonded and stable in all locations. Any new snow amounts that may affect the highest summits are not expected to be significant. Most snow will remain in North and East facing corries above 900 metres, diminishing and patchy elsewhere. Any remaining cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Showers throughout the day will be rain at most levels with sleet or snow showers possible on the highest summits. The freezing level will be around 1200 metres rising towards the end of the day. Winds will be moderate West-North-Westerly overnight backing South-South-West during the day and strengthening during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Precipitation fell as rain at all levels throughout the day. Winds were strong West-North-Westerly. The freezing level was above all summits. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is thawing but well bonded and stable in all locations. Greatest amounts remain in high North and East facing corries above 900 metres, becoming increasingly patchy elsewhere. The avalanche hazard is Low.
