Forecast Snow Stability: A few pockets of wet snow instabilities may remain on steep Westerly to Northerly aspects above 1000m, however these will continue to consolidate and be isolated and avoidable. Unseasonable mild temperatures will continue to diminish the snowpack which is expected to be generally stable throughout. Remaining snow is generally located on Northerly aspects above 900m and in sheltered locations on the plateau areas. Any remaining cornices are expected to slump. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: The Gale Force South-Westerly winds will moderate as a weak ridge of high pressure moves in during the night. Winds tomorrow will be light from the North-East. No precipitation is forecast and the freezing level is expected to remain above the summits. Observed Weather Influences: Strong to Gale Force South-Westerly winds. Rain shower mid-morning then dry with a freezing level above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: Localised wet snow instabilities are present on West through North to North-East aspects above 1000 metres. This is mainly affecting areas such as steep corrie headwalls, gully exits and crag aprons. Elsewhere the remaining snowpack is generally stable. Some minor cornices were observed above the same aspects. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
